When I have the desire to found Myanmar Traditional cultural show, I chose the puppet show that is the basic performing art. In fact, the puppet has come out first in the art world. Since yore, the Myanmar kings were entertained with the puppet shows.

 

The unique thing of Htwe Oo Myanmar Traditional Puppet Show, is that the male and female puppets are manipulated by the puppeteers of the same gender.

 

A male puppet is controlled only by a man and a female puppet is only by a woman. So, we can clearly see that feelings of the puppet in the play is reflecting on the face of the expert puppeteer.

 

We can also see the interesting performances such as the dance of the prince, playing with a cane ball, the acrobatic dance of the prince who is playing a tub with his legs while he is laying down on his back and the dance with garland.

 

The chorus dance of the equestrian Princes including four puppets provides it to become a variety show because it was performed with only two puppets in the ancient time. Moreover, we can also observe the deftness of the puppeteer’s manipulating skill when controlling a romantic duet dance that is the life of the puppet show.

 

When a culture group led by Sayagyi U Sein Tun Kyi paid a good will visits abroad, they only introduce the Myanmar Puppet as a kind of variety dance. So the world have never seen Myanmar puppet show based on the plots and the stories.

 

I would like to present the puppet show based on the plots and the stories which can be understood internationally. If I could do it, I assume that the world will appreciate that the standard of a Myanma Puppet Show is more difficult, skillful and technical than they have known. That’s why, I’ll try to improvise the marionette’s standard more than at present.

 

We are filled with wonder at the sight of the puppeteer’s dexterity in performing the marionette’s movements like real human beings. This also clearly reveals the high standard of Myanmar Puppets as well as the real image of Myanma arts.
